شركة “فيرفاكس” المالية تستحوذ على “بلاك بيري”

وافق مجلس إدارة شركة “بلاك بيري” على عرض الاستحواذ المقدم من شركة “فيرفاكس” المالية الكندية، وهو العرض الذي يقترب من نحو خمسة مليارات دولار أمريكي.

وتقدمت شركة “فيرفاكس” (Fairfax Financial Holdings) بعرض، للاستحواذ على شركة صناعة الهواتف الكندية، يقدر بتسعة دولارات للسهم الواحد، لتصبح اجمالي الصفقة نحو 4.7 مليارات دولار أمريكي، حسب ما أبرزه تقرير لشبكة CNBC الإخبارية.

وتعد شركة “فيرفاكس” المالية هي أكبر مساهم في شركة “بلاك بيري” بحصة تقدر بنحو عشرة بالمائة من الأسهم، وهي شركة كندية تعمل في أعمال التأمين والاستثمارات المالية ويرأسها الكندي “بريم واتسا”.

وكان “واتسا” ضمن مجلس إدارة شركة “بلاك بيري” حتى أغسطس الماضي، حيث أعلن الكندي استقالته في الوقت الذي أعلنت فيه شركة صناعة الهواتف نيتها بحث عدد من الخيارات الاستراتيجية لإنقاذ موقف الشركة المتعثر في سوق الهواتف الذكية منها خيار البيع.

وواجهت “بلاك بيري” خلال الفترة الماضية صعوبة في الحصول على حصة جيدة من سوق الهواتف الذكية في ظل المنافسة التي تواجهها على مستوى الشركات من شركتي “سامسونج” و”آبل”، وعلى مستوى أنظمة التشغيل من نظامي “اندرويد” وiOS.

وينتظر أن تعاني الشركة الكندية من خسارة فصلية تقترب من مليار دولار أمريكي، مما دفع الشركة قبل أيام من اتخاذ قرار بتخفيض العمالة لديها وشطب ما يزيد عن أربعة آلاف وظيفة.

الجدير بالذكر أن شركة “بلاك بيري” تم تأسيسها عام 1984 على يد الكنديين “مايك لازاريدس” و”جيم باليسلي” تحت اسم “ريسيرش إن موش” RIM، وذلك قبل ان يتم تغيير اسم الشركة في وقت سابق هذا العام كخطوة غير ناجحة من إدارة الشركة لإنقاذها من موقفها المتعثر، وكان أول هواتف الشركة تم إصداره في عام 1999 تحت اسم Pager 850.

أعلنت شركة “بلاك بيري”رسمياً منذ قليل عبر مدونتها عن تأجيل إطلاق تطبيق بلاك بيري ماسنجر لأجهزة أندرويد وأيفون إلى أن يتم إصلاح المشكلات والأخطاء الحاصلة.

وقالت الشركة إنه قد تم تسريب نسخة أولية من تطبيق بلاك بيري لأجهزة أندرويد عبر شبكة الإنترنت، والذي حظي باهتمام أكثر من مليون ومائة ألف مستخدم نشط خلال الساعات الثمان الأولى لتوفيره على الإنترنت على الرغم من أنه ليس الإصدار النهائي الرسمي.

وأشارت الشركة إلى أن الإقبال الكبير على هذه النسخة غير الرسمية التي تم تسريبها قد تسبب في مشكلات وأخطاء معينة، مما أدى إلى التأخير الحاصل في إصلاق الإصدار الرسمي للتطبيق الخاص بأجهزة أندرويد.

وأكدت الشركة أن فريقها يعمل بجد على حل المشكلات الحاصلة، وسيتم طرح التطبيق فقط عندما يتأكد الفريق من أن النسخة تعمل بشكل جيد وخالية من الأخطاء.

وقالت الشركة إنها تعلن رسمياً عن إيقاف الإطلاق العالمي لتطبيق بلاك بيري ماسنجر لأجهزة أندرويد وآيفون حتى يتم التأكد من حل المشكلات.

وأكدت الشركة أنها قامت بتعطيل النسخة المسربة الخاصة بأجهزة أندرويد، في حين أن نسخة آيفون التي تم طرحها في عدد من البلدان سيواصلون العمل بدون مشاكل.

يذكر أن شركة “بلاك بيري” أطلقت مساء أمس السبت النسخة الخاصة بتطبيق  المحادثة الخاص بها “مسنجر بلاك بيري” BBM لهواتف آيفون، حيث أصبح التطبيق الآن متاحًا للمستخدمين في نيوزلندا واستراليا وماليزيا وعدد من الدول العربية، على أن يتوفر تدريجيًا لبقية المستخدمين في جميع أنحاء العالم على جميع أجهزة آيفون وأندرويد.

ويتيح التطبيق للمستخدمين الدردشة ومشاركة المعلومات والملفات وإنشاء المجموعات التي تصل إلى ثلاثين مستخدمًا ضمن المجموعة الواحدة. ويقدم إمكانية معرفة حالة الرسالة لدى وصولها وقراءتها من قِبل الطرف الآخر، ويدعم مجموعة كبيرة من أيقونات الوجوه التعبيرية.

كما يتيح التطبيق إرسال الرسائل إلى جهات اتصال متعددة في نفس الوقت أو ما يعرف بميزة (البث). ويوفر إمكانية إرسال الملاحظات الصوتية والصور وعناوين الإنترنت.

ويمكن للمستخدم تغيير صورته الشخصية وتحديث حالته عبر التطبيق بشكل فوري، كما يقدم للمستخدم إمكانية تحديد الأشخاص الذين يستطيعون مراسلته.

ويعمل التطبيق على آيفون بنفس أسلوب عمله على بلاك بيري، حيث يعتمد على توليد رقم تعريف خاص بكل مستخدم PIN أو توليد رمز الاستجابة السريع QR حيث يمكن لصاحب الرقم تبادله مع المستخدمين الآخرين الذين يرغب بإضافتهم إلى التطبيق من خلال إرسال الرمز عبر البريد الإلكتروني أو رسالة قصيرة.

ويقدم التطبيق حاليًا تصميمًا مطابقًا تقريبًا لتصميم التطبيق على أجهزة بلاك بيري، إلا أنه لا يقدم بعض الميزات التي يقدمها الأخير ومن أبرزها إمكانية محادثات الصوت والفيديو، إلا أن الشركة ذكرت سابقًا بأنها ستدعم هذه الميزات على أندرويد و iOS عبر تحديثات لاحقة.

Apple released their latest iPhone today, and is usually the case, countless people all over the country were camped out in front of stores in eager anticipation of receiving the 5S and 5C before the general population. However, some of these people were a little less patient then they were eager.

CBSNews reported early this morning that several persons in Los Angeles were paying the homeless to hold their spot in line until vouchers were handed out.

A homeless lady by the name of Mickie was interviewed and she informed viewers that she was picked up from a shelter by someone who wanted the new phone and would be paid an undisclosed amount of money to wait in line. She would receive her payment after handing over the voucher to the person who hired her.

“I was asked yesterday if I would be willing to sit in line for someone so they could get a phone. I said ‘Sure, I’ve got nothing else to do.’ So I’m here.”

Mickie was not the only homeless person who was asked to complete this task, with some people being paid as little as $35 to sit in line over night.

It’s no secret that I’m a pretty big fan of BlackBerry, but I don’t know if A) I would ever want to wait in line over night for a new product, and B) that I would want to pay anyone, let alone a homeless person, to do that waiting for me.

Part of me wants to comment on how this deed is a sad testament not only to society’s dependence on new technology, but also on the increasing laziness and willingness to pass off the work to someone else. I would love to talk about how borderline deplorable it is to get someone who lives on the street and pay them chump change so you can person a new device that costs hundreds of dollars. I won’t do that though, because different strokes for different folks and all that.

The one good thing out of this story is that all these new and returning  iPhone users will be able to get their BBM action rolling this weekend.

اكتشف بعض مستخدمي حواسيب آبل أن ضرر التدخين لا يقتصر على صحتهم و حسب بل يتجاوزها ليصل إلى حواسيبهم ، حيث تم تسجيل حالتي إلغاء ضمان لحواسيب آبل بسبب التدخين ، الأولى لشخص يدعى Derek اللذي قصد أحد مراكز الصيانة التابعة لآبل لإصلاح حاسوبه المحمول macbook من مشكلة الحرارة الزائدة ، حيث طلب منه الموظفون أن يترك الحاسوب من أجل إجراء الفحص و الإصلاح ، المفاجئة أتت بعد 3 أيام عندما تلقى Derek اتصالاً من مركز الصيانة يخبره بما يلي : نظراً لأن حاسوبك تم استخدمه في منزل يمارس فيه التدخين فقد تم إلغاء ضمان حاسوبك و نعتذر عن إصلاحه

 الحالة الثانية كانت مع شخص يدعى Ruth ، اللذي اشترى حاسوب iMac لأحد أبنائه و دفع مبلغ إضافي مقابل فترة ضمان إضافية ، و بعد شهر من شهراءه توقف الحاسوب عن العمل ، فأخذه الإبن إلى أحد مراكز الصيانة التابعة لآبل من أجل إصلاحه ، أخبره التقنيون هناك أن الحاسوب سيتم إصلاحه خلال 3 أيام ، لكن مرت 5 أيام دون أي اتصال من مركز الصيانة ، مما دفعه لأن يتصل بالمركز للإستفسار عن حالة الحاسوب ، فأخبره أحد التقنيين بأنهم لا يستطيعون العمل على حاسوبه لأنه ملوّث !! ، و عندما سألهم عن تفسير كلمة ملوّث أجابوه أنه ملوث بدخان السجائر و أنه يعتبر خطر بيولوجي بالنسبة إليهم.

الغريب أن Ruth دقق في ورقة الضمان بعد انتهاء المكالمة و لم يجد أي تحذير من إلغاء الضمان في حال كان المستخدم من المدخنين ، بعد الحادثتين تقدم كل من Derek و Ruth بشكوى إلى آبل و لكن بدون جدوى ، حيث كان رد آبل أن النكوتين مصنف كمادة خطرة ضمن قائمة السلامة المهنية و الإدارة الصحية بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية ، و لذلك فإن الشركة لا تستطيع إجبار موظفي الصيانة لديها على إصلاح الحواسيب الملوّثة بالنكوتين.

First try selecting the “cell” above the row numbers and left of the column numbers (to select the entire worksheet) and then selecting Format > Row > Unhide. If that doesn’t work or you just don’t want to unhide all rows, then follow the directions below.

In your workbook enter Alt+F11 (or right click on a worksheet name tab and select View Code.)

In the big window under the words Option Explicit, paste the following code.

Sub UnHideSomeRows()
Range("A1:A4").EntireRow.Hidden = False
End Sub

Place the cursor on the first line of this code and press F8 three times (or F5 once.)

That will unhide rows 1 – 4 without affecting any others.

كشف مصمم هولندي عن نموذج لهاتف ذكي قابل للتحديث حيث صنع من قطع قابلة للتغيير، وذلك ضمن حملة دعا فيها المهتمين بالحصول على مثل هذا الهاتف مساندته للحصول على الاهتمام اللازم من أحد الشركات المصنعة للهواتف لتحويل فكرته إلى منتج تجاري.

وأطلق المصمم الهولندي “ديف هاكنز” على الهاتف الذكي الجديد اسم Phonebloks، وهو الهاتف الذي يمكن تغيير كافة قطعه لتحديث مواصفاته بسهولة ودون الحاجة لخبرة مسبقة، حيث يمكن استبدال الشاشة بأخرى ذات دقة أكبر أو زيادة سعة الذاكرة الداخلية أو وضع بطارية ذات سعة أكبر أو تغيير المعالج بأخر أسرع عبر إزالة القطعة القديمة وإضافة القطعة الجديدة على القاعدة التي تربط القطع جميعها.

How to add Startup items to Windows 8

Problem

You want to be able to add startup items that run when Windows starts. In previous versions of Windows, you could easily add them to the “Startup” folder in the Start menu which is no longer visible.

Solution

1. Open the Windows 8 start screen by doing one of the following:
   • Press the Windows key
   • Move mouse to the bottom left of the screen. When the start screen icon appears, click once.
   OR (as commented by Rick) Press the ‘Windows key’+'R’
2. Type %appdata% and press Enter. This should take you to “C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming”.
3. Navigate to “\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup”. The full path should now look something like:
4. “C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup”.
5. Add shortcuts to the programs you want to automatically start into this folder.

You can now add any shortcuts you want to start when you start your computer.
